Our Family Names

My name is David Ridgway. I live in Staffordshire, UK, and I am a Retired Local Government Officer.
Since I retired, I have researched my family back to c.1530 in Countesthorpe, and then via Ibstock, Shackerstone, Leicestershire and then to Birmingham
My Great Grandfather, John Ridgway, was a Master Cordwainer in Birmingham, and he had seven sons.
I have a famous relative, Captain John Ridgway, who together with Sergeant Chay Blyth, set off from Boston, USA on the 4th June 1964 to row across the Atlantic Ocean, a voyage that took 92 days to accomplish, ending on the West coast of Ireland.
